PUEBLO, Colo. (April 29, 2019)- By virtue of winning the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championship, Colorado State University-Pueblo Women's Golf will now compete at the NCAA D-II West Regionals.
The NCAA West Regional will be held at the Amarillo Country Club Monday May 6 through Wednesday May 8. CSU-Pueblo enters the event as the No. 11 seed.
The Pack won the RMAC Championship by 18 strokes. This was their third RMAC Championship in program history. CSU-Pueblo set a RMAC record with a team score of +1 (289) on day two of the RMAC Tournament.
Orakorn Thirayatorn (Sr., Meang Khonkaen, Thailand) won the RMAC Individual Championship. Thirayatorn became the third ThunderWolf to capture a RMAC Individual Championship in the last five years, joining
Leina Kim and Jacquelyn Porman. Thirayatorn has earned two RMAC Golfer of the Week awards this season.
The Pack also set a program record earlier this month with the best tournament score in program history. CSU-Pueblo shot a two-day score of +10 (586) at the Spring Mustang Intercollegiate, the lowest team total in any tournament in program history. At this tournament, the ThunderWolves beat four of the 11 teams they will compete against in the NCAA West Regional en route to a second place finish.
Four ThunderWolves finished in the top 11 at the RMAC Championships.
Jolene Kam (Sr., Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia) medaled at the RMAC Championships for the second time in her career. Kam finished fourth with +8 (224). She earned RMAC Golfer of the Week honors twice.
Rachanok Rahulpan (Sr., Pathumthani, Thailand) placed sixth with a +9 (225).
Courtney Ewing (Sr., Pueblo West, Colo.) took 11th place with a +13 (229).
The Pack finished an incredible 56-1-1 against RMAC competition this season. They have won two tournaments in 2018-19. CSU-Pueblo also won the 2018 Farmers Insurance Samuel Proal Invitational. The Pack has placed in the top eight of every tournament it has played this season.
If the Pack can place in the top four at the NCAA D-II West Regional, they will advance to the 2019 NCAA D-II Championships.
