PUEBLO, Colo. (April 24, 2019) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo women's tennis team suffered a 7-0 loss to Metro State University of Denver Tuesday in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference match at Pueblo City Park.
The match closed the regular season for the ThunderWolves (1-19, 0-3 RMAC). The 2019 RMAC Tournament bracket was announced today by the league office and the Pack have earned the No. 4 seed and will battle No. 1 MSU Denver. The match is set for Friday at 9:30 a.m. in Grand Junction, Colorado.
Before the match Tuesday, the Pack honored the lone senior,
Nia Matthews (Houston, Texas) for her dedication to the program. Matthews went out on top with a big win at No. 1 doubles with partner
Kali Hamilton (Grapevine, Texas). The pairing defeated Alex Pessoa and Helena Steenberg by the score of 6-4.
In singles, play, Hamilton battled at the No. 2 position and won the first set 6-4 before suffering a 4-6 loss in the second. She just missed on the third set tiebreak with a 12-14 loss. At No. 4 singles,
Sarah Megilligan (Pueblo West, Colo.) pushed her opponent to extra tennis in a second set loss, 7-6 (7-4 breaker).
