PUEBLO, Colo. (April 18, 2019) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo women's tennis team travels to Grand Junction, Colorado for a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference match Friday beginning at 10 a.m.
The ThunderWolves are 1-18 overall with an 0-1 conference record. The Pack are coming off an 0-7 loss to No. 32 Tarleton State University. CSU-Pueblo and Colorado Mesa just met in Pueblo on April 6 in a match were CMU won 6-1. Senior
Nia Matthews (Houston, Texas) won twice in the loss to the Mavericks. Matthews picked up a big three-set victory at No. 1 singles to claim the lone point for the Pack. After losing the first set 3-6, Matthews edged out Kristen Kirby in the second set tiebreak by a 7-5 margin to claim the set 7-6. The two played a third set tiebreak where Matthews was victorious, 10-6.

Kali Hamilton (Grapevine, Texas) paired up at the No. 1 doubles position and won, 6-3. Hamilton was the closest to winning a set in singles, as she fell, 4-6, 2-6.
Hamilton has four singles wins this season at the No. 1 spot. Junior
Sarah Megilligan (Pueblo West, Colo.) also has four wins with three at the No. 4 spot this spring. The Matthews and Hamilton pair have three wins in doubles play.
The Mavericks enter the match 6-15 overall and 0-2 in RMAC play. Kristen Kirby has won three RMAC Player of the Week awards this season. She is 13-13 this season and leads the team in singles wins. The junior owns an 11-9 record at No. 1 singles. Kirby and Emily Beckley each have 13 doubles wins, as the pair is 13-14.
Following the match against the Mavericks, the Pack return home to wrap the regular season in an RMAC match against Metro State University of Denver beginning at 2 p.m. at Pueblo City Park. CSU-Pueblo will honor its lone senior, Matthews, before the match.
