PUEBLO, Colo. (April. 16, 2019) -Â The Colorado State University-Pueblo Men's Tennis Team travels to Colorado Mesa University in its last trip away from home this spring season. The ThunderWolves will play April 19 at 10 a.m. in Grand Junction, Colo.
It has been a challenging spring season for the Pack, as they currently sit winless away from home play. But the ThunderWolves prevailed against the traveling Mavericks in their previous home game, winning 4-3. Senior and Pueblo nativeÂ
Dante Alcala played clutch under pressure when the match relied on the clinch win, topping William Agritelley (CMU) 6-4, 6-4 at No. 6 singles.
A change in the doubles line up has been a positive impact for the ThunderWolves. Both No. 2 and No. 3 doubles pairings,Â
Richard Garcia (Fr., Surrey, UK) andÂ
Edward Cooper (Fr., Bolton, UK) and seniorsÂ
James Ryan (Rustington, Sussex, UK) and Alcala are posting a two-match win streak securing both the crucial doubles point against Metro State University of Denver and Colorado Mesa.
Ogulcan Deniz (Sr., Istanbul, Turkey) and Cooper won their previous singles matches against the Mavericks.
The Mavericks are ending their last game of their spring season against the ThunderWolves coming off the back of an 8-1 victory against Colorado College. The Mavericks are currently 4-15 in season play and are 1-1 at home.
For the seniors, Alcala, Deniz and Ryan, this will be there last traveling away match as a student-athlete and we would like to congratulate all three of them for their dedication and hard work to the Pack family and institution. From CSU-Pueblo, we would like to wish you the best of luck on your last away travels.Â
After Friday's match, the Pack wrap the home schedule with MSU Denver Tuesday, April 23 at 2 p.m. at Pueblo City Park. The team will recognize those three seniors before the match.Â
