Pack takes on Colorado Mesa and Regis in pod at CMU

PUEBLO, Colo. (April 12, 2019) - Colorado State University-Pueblo softball goes on the road this week and will play in a pod-style series against Regis University and host - No. 12 Colorado Mesa University beginning Saturday at CMU Softball Field.

The Pack will open play at 12 p.m. against Regis and will battle CMU at 2 p.m. On Sunday, the ThunderWolves will play in the first game of the day against the Mavericks and will finish the weekend at 12 p.m. against the Rangers.

Setting The Stage
The Pack is back on the diamond after winning 3-of-4 against Adams State. The Pack won both games on the first day against ASU and split the DH on Sunday.

Senior Michaela Burpee (Union City, Calif.) tied a program record and became the first RMAC player to hit three homeruns in a game since 2017. For her efforts, Burpee was named RMAC Player of the Week.

Taylor Strupp (Fr., San Tan Valley, Ariz.) went 2-0 in three appearances. Strupp tossed 14.0 innings and allowed seven runs while in the in the circle.

OPPONENT CAPSULES

Colorado Mesa is currently on a 16-game win streak and are atop the RMAC standings with a 31-6 record overall and 24-3. Last time on the field, CMU swept Chadron State on the road. The Mavericks are led by AnnMarie Torres with a .505 batting average. In the circle, CMU is guided by Kimbri Herring (14-3, 2.21 ERA) and McKenzie Surface (12-0, 2.68 ERA).  

Regis comes in with a 9-14 conference mark and is 12-17 overall. Last time on the field, RU lost 3-of-4 at home against Colorado Mines. The Rangers are led by Carly Beard with a .403 average. In the circle, Taylor Armitage guides the staff with a 9-11 record and 3.81 ERA.
