PUEBLO, Colo. (March 6, 2019) – The Colorado State University-Pueblo Women's Tennis team suffered a 4-3 loss to Concordia University (Neb.) Wednesday in its spring home opener at Pueblo City Park.
The ThunderWolves (0-10) lost the doubles point to go down 1-0, but were able to secure three straight singles wins to go get one point shy of clinching their first win of the season.
At No. 2, sophomore
Kali Hamilton (Grapevine, Texas) posted a clean 6-0, 6-0 straight set victory. Sophomore
Emily Sporston (Warrington, UK) needed a third set to secure a win at the No. 3 spot, as she recorded scores of 6-1, 6-7 (5), 6-2. Freshman
Katherine Ambrose (Bradford Woods, Pa.) was victorious at the No. 5 spot with a 6-3, 6-1 win.
CSU-Pueblo was forced to give up the No. 6 singles due to forfeit, but loses at No. 1 and No. 4 would prove to be the end of the match, as the Pack lost 4-3.
The ThunderWolves now travel to the Midwestern State University Texas Invite Friday and Saturday in Wichita Falls, Texas. Friday, the Pack will play Cameron University starting at 8 a.m. MT and will then battle Angelo State University at 2 p.m. MT. The ThunderWolves wrap the weekend Saturday against the host Mustangs beginning at 1 p.m. MT.
