PUEBLO, Colo. (March 31, 2019) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo women's tennis team suffered a 6-1 loss to Seward County Community College Friday at Pueblo City Park. The ThunderWolves were slated to play Hastings College Saturday, but weather wiped out the match.
Junior
Sarah Megilligan (Pueblo West, Colo.) got the lone team point for the Pack when she posted a commanding win, 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 4 singles position. She is 3-1 in the team's last two matches, which includes a 2-0 mark at singles play.
The No. 1 doubles pair of senior
Nia Matthews (Houston, Texas) and
Kali Hamilton (Grapevine, Texas) combined for a 6-4 win against the Saints. The Pack narrowly missed claiming the doubles point, as the No. 2 pair of Megilligan and sophomore
Emily Sproston (Warrington, UK) lost by the score of 5-7.
The ThunderWolves will travel to Metro State University of Denver April 3 for a nonconference meeting beginning at 2 p.m. The Pack open Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play April 5 against Dixie State University beginning at 12 p.m. April 6, CSU-Pueblo welcomes Colorado Mesa University for a 9:30 a.m. nonconference meeting with the Mavericks. Both weekend matches have been moved from Pueblo City Park to East High School.
