ThunderWolves fall to Hardrockers

PUEBLO, Colo. (Feb. 9, 2019) – The Colorado State University-Pueblo men's basketball team ran into another hot shooting opponent Saturday, as South Dakota Mines & Technology visited Massari Arena and defeated the ThunderWolves 80-66 in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference contest. 
 
The Pack (6-17, 4-13 RMAC) shot 43.6 percent from the field, while the Hardrockers (11-14, 8-9 RMAC) produced a 58.3 percentage and hit 10 3-pointers and shot 52.6 percent from long range. 
 
CSU-Pueblo was able to force 18 Hardrocker turnovers and had 10 steals. The ThunderWolves lost the rebounding battle 37-22. 
 
Junior Donovan Oldham (G/F, Colorado Springs, Colo.) led the team with 14 points.
 
Center Jason Anderson (R-Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) totaled 13 points on 6-for-8 (75%) shooting from the field. 
 
Freshman guard Tyson Gilbert (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) added seven points and team-highs in rebounds (4) and assists (tied with 2). 
 
For the second night in a row the home team never led in the game. A slow start for both teams had the score 11-6 with 14:11 remaining in the opening half. The Hardrockers then went on a run and were leading 24-10 with 7:40 left in the half. 
 
CSU-Pueblo would get as close as nine before trailing by 13, 39-26, at the half. 
 
Despite only losing the final 20 minutes 41-40, the Pack couldn't't find a rhythm in the second half to make a comeback and would fall by 14. 
 
The ThunderWolves close the road schedule Feb. 15-16 at University of Colorado Springs and nationally-ranked Colorado School of Mines.
