EDMOND, Okla. (Feb. 1, 2019) - Freshman Oscar Diaz (Selma, Calif.) produced the biggest win of his young collegiate career Friday, as the No. T-7 Colorado State University-Pueblo wrestling team fell to No. 18 University of Central Oklahoma Friday in a nonconference dual. The ThunderWolves lost 29-12 while resting half their starting lineup.

Diaz wrestled to a 7-4 decision victory at 149 against No. 11 Brik Filippo. He earned a takedown in the first period, but the two wrestlers were tied 2-2 heading to the third period. An escape gave him the lead, then a takedown pushed the advantage to 5-2. Another takedown by the true freshman would seal the victory at 7-4.

The Pack (10-4, 4-1 RMAC) totaled four wins on the day against the Bronchos (10-3, 2-0 MIAA), all decision victories.

No. 2 D'Andre Brumfield (R-Jr., Dallas, Texas) totaled four takedowns in his 9-3 decision win at 133. He also produced two takedowns in the third period for the victory.

The ThunderWolves trailed 9-6 after the 149 bout due to a forfeit at 141. The Pack would go on to lose three of the next four bouts, two of which were by pin, to trail 24-9 through eight matches. Mixed in was a decision victory at 174 by Zane Zeman (Jr., Avon, Ohio). He produced a 7-3 win with a takedown in each period.

After losing his last two bouts, No. 4 heavyweight Gavin Nye (R-Fr., Gerber, Calif.) got back in the win column with a narrow 6-4 decision that included two takedowns and a reversal.

CSU-Pueblo will conclude the dual season against two Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference foes Feb. 7-8. The Pack host Colorado Mesa University Thursday at 6 p.m. for Senior Night and then travel to Western State Colorado University Friday.
