Pack smashes 400 Free Relay Record en route to 5th place finish

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (November 21, 2019) – Colorado State University-Pueblo Swimming & Diving shattered its school record in the 400 Free Relay Saturday as the Pack wound up in fifth place at the A3 Performance Invite.
 
Julia Whitfield, Jillian Abrian, Phoebe Pontious, and Selina Wang toppled the Pack's record with a 400 Free Relay time of 3:35.75. This beat the previous record by 2.8 seconds. Their effort gave them sixth place and 26 team points.
 
The Pack's second 400 Free Relay team posted the third fastest time in program history. Rashelle Freeman, Mckenna Hauber, Vivica Craig, and Kate Miller recorded a time of 3:42.93, entering their names on the Pack's top five list. They snagged ninth place for their efforts.
 
Hauber (Fr., Gillette, Wyo.) gave the Pack its best individual finish of the day. She finished ninth in the 1650 Free with a time of 18:09.37.
 
Pontious (Sr., Caledonia, Mich.) claimed 13th place in the 100 Free with a time of 53.58. Wang also advanced to the finals and claimed 15th place (53.87). Whitfield (So., Wichita, Kan.) narrowly missed out on the finals, taking 17th place with a time of 54.02.
 
Bristyn Croswhite (Jr., Tempe, Ariz.) secured 15th place in the 200 Fly. Croswhite touched the wall with a mark of 2:17.36. Alyssa Grunloh (So., Round Rock, Texas) advanced to the finals and finished 16th (2:22.93).  Erin Mabry (Fr., Mesa, Ariz.) took 17th (2:25.95).
 
Abrian (Fr., Ladera Ranch, Calif.) collected the Pack's best finish in the 200 Back. She emerged in 18th place (2:16.24).
 
Kristen Wolf (Fr., Topeka, Kan.) earned the Pack's top time in the 200 Breast (2:36.93).  Wolf took home 21st place.
 
The Pack wrapped up the four-day meet in fifth place. The ThunderWolves totaled 259 points. They beat Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference foe Adams State University by 122 points.
 
CSU-Pueblo returns to action Dec. 7 when they face Colorado College. This road dual will start at noon.
