GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (November 22, 2019) – Colorado State University-Pueblo Swimming & Diving maintained its fifth place standing Friday on day three of the A3 Performance Invite at the El Pomar Natatorium.
Over three days, the Pack has amassed 197 total points. They lead Adams State University by 96 points heading into the final day of the four-day meet.
The ThunderWolves set a school record in the 800 Free. The team of
Mckenna Hauber, Rashelle Freeman, Selina Wang, and
Julia Whitfield swam a school record time of 8:03.20. This time beat the Pack's previous best by 1.46 seconds. They seized eighth place for this effort.
Holly Humphries (Fr., Cypress, Texas) recorded the Pack's best finish of the day. Humphries took seventh in the one meter dive. She scored 283.10 points.
Sarah Steele (Fr., Pueblo, Colo.) was narrowly edged out by Humphries with a score of 281.95 to place eighth. The diving duo brought 23 points to the Pack.
Phoebe Pontious (Sr., Caledonia, Mich.) posted the Pack's highest finish in the swimming events. Pontious secured 12 place in the 100 Fly with a time of 59.14.
Hauber (Fr., Gillette, Wyo.) started the scoring for the Pack. Hauber took 15th in the 400 IM with a time of 4:49.88. Her prelim time of 4:45.72 brings her within 10 seconds of the school record.
Wang (Fr., Taipei, Taiwan) took home 14th place in the 200 Free. Wang also earned the Pack's top finish in the 100 Back. She claimed 19th with a time of 1:01.72.
Kate Miller (Jr., Draper, Utah) swam a career-best 1:09.34 in the 100 Breast. Miller just missed out on the finals, finishing 18th.
The Pack will wrap up competition in the A3 Performance Invite Saturday. The prelims Saturday will start at 10 a.m.
