PUEBLO, Colo. (Nov. 13, 2019) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo wrestling team will host Otero Junior College Thursday, Nov. 14 at 6 p.m. at Massari Arena. The event will be free and give fans their first look at the 2019-20 squad.
Pack Wrestling is once again selling raffle tickets for a chance of taking home the grand prize of 600 pounds of whole beef, including processing. Tickets are still available, as the drawing will be held before the team's home scrimmage with Otero Thursday. The winner will also be announced on social media.
The winning ticket will receive the grand prize valued at $3,000.
Cost per ticket is $100 and the winning ticket does not need to be present to win. Only 150 tickets will be sold. For more information or to purchase tickets, contact Pack Head Coach Dax Charles at (719) 549-2794.
The ThunderWolves were successful at the Northern Colorado Open Sunday. Gavin Melendez (R-Jr., Los Banos, Calif.) and Ben Gould (Fr., Canyon Country, Calif.) both finished third at their respective weight classes.
A total of 14 wrestlers competed for the Pack at the tournament, hosted by University of Northern Colorado.
Melendez was 4-1 at 149 with three wins against NCAA Division I wrestlers and two bonus point victories to secure third place. Gould was third at 197, as he went 4-1. The freshman used a 5-3 decision against a wrestler from Air Force to secure third.
Jair Flores (R-Jr., Pueblo, Colo.) secured three wins to get to the semifinal at 165, but would suffer an injury during the bout and lose by injury default. He finished sixth. Junior Brendon Kelley (Evansville, Ind.) was sixth at 174 with a 3-2 record that included two pins and a tech fall.
A total of three other wrestlers earned at least two wins in the second open tournament of the season for the ThunderWolves.
Next up for the Pack will be the University of Nebraska-Kearney Holiday Inn Open, set for Saturday, Nov. 23.
