PUEBLO, Colo. (October 26, 2019) - Phoebe Pontious of the Colorado State University-Pueblo Swimming & Diving team celebrated her senior day with a win in the 50 free, but the Pack lost to Western Colorado University 142.5 to 98.5 Saturday.
Competing at the Sam Jones Aquatic Center for the final time, Pontious (Caledonia, Mich.) won the 50 Free in a time of 24.77. Pontious also placed second in the 100 fly with a time of 1:01.48.
Pontious also teamed with
Rashelle Freeman (Fr., Temecula, Calif.),
Julia Whitfield (So., Wichita, Kan.), and
Vivica Craig (Fr., Las Vegas, Nev.) won the 400 Free Relay with a time of 3:44.00. This time ranks as the fifth fastest in program history. The Pack won this race by 5.62 seconds.
Selina Wang (Fr., Taipei, Taiwan) won both the 100 and 200 Free events. Wang bested the competition with a time of 54.95 in the 100 Free. She also touched the wall first with a time of 2:02.39 in the 200 Free.
Whitfield took second in both the 50 Free and 100 Free. Whitfield posted a time of 25.39 in the 50 Free. She was the runner up in the 100 Free (55.53).
Freeman finished second in the 200 Free (2:03.45). The freshman gave the Pack a 1-2-3 finish in the 100 Free, taking third in a time of 56.35.
Sarah Steele (Fr., Pueblo, Colo.) took second in the one meter dive with a score of 208.95. Fellow freshman
Holly Humphries (Cypress, Texas) placed second in the three meter dive (166.35).
The Pack will travel to Kearney, Neb. Saturday Nov. 2 for their second quad meet of the season. They will face the Mountaineers again at this meet. The Pack will also face Colorado School of Mines and University of Nebraska Kearney for the first time.
