Pontious & Pack set for Senior Day

PUEBLO, Colo. (October 25, 2019) – Colorado State University-Pueblo Swimming Diving will host its Senior Day Saturday Oct. 26 at 12 p.m. when the Pack welcomes Western Colorado University to the Sam Jones Aquatic Center.

At Saturday's meet, the Pack will honor the career of its lone senior, Phoebe Pontious (Caledonia, Mich.). Pontious holds the school record in the 50 Free with a time of 26.46. She also set the benchmark for the Pack in the 100 Free with a time 53.28.

Last week, Pontious helped the Pack set a pool record in the 200 Free relay with a time of 1:41.16. Pontious joined with Selina Wang, Jillian Abrian (Fr., Ladera Ranch, Calif.), and Julia Whitfield to set this pool record which ranks as the fifth-fastest time in program history.

Pontious has enjoyed swimming against the Mountaineers in her career. Pontious has six career wins against Western Colorado.

The Pack will look for its first win over the Mountaineers in program history. The ThunderWolves lost to Western Colorado by just five points at the CSU-Pueblo Quad Meet.

CSU-Pueblo started the season 2-1. They knocked off Colorado College 154-127 and Adams State 181-90. The Mountaineers edged out the Pack 141-136 last week.

Pontious, Wang and Whitfield led the Pack to a 1-2-3 finish in the 50 Free last week. Wang (Fr., Taipei, Taiwan) also won the 100 Free with a time of 55.20. Whitfield (So., Wichita, Kan.) took second with a mark of 55.32.

Mckenna Hauber (Fr., Gillette, Wyo.) earned a win in her first meet with the Pack. Hauber took first in the 200 IM with a time of 2:17.76. She finished second in the 500 Free (5:28.26) and third in the 1000 Free (11:12.06).

Holly Humphries (Fr., Cypress, Texas) made an impact on the boards for the Pack. Humphries finished fourth in the one meter dive with a score of 204.75.

Rashelle Freeman (Fr., Temecula, Calif.) earned a second place showing in her Pack debut. Freeman was the runner-up in the 200 Free (2:03.96).

Saturday's meet will the final home meet of the season for the Pack. Admission is free for the event.
