T-No. 11 Pack Wrestling hosts Eagles Thursday; At Tracy Borah Duals Saturday

PUEBLO, Colo. (Jan. 8, 2019) - The T-No. 11 Colorado State University-Pueblo wrestling team will host Chadron State College in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference dual Thursday, Jan. 10 beginning at 5 p.m. at Massari Arena. The ThunderWolves will also compete at the Tracy Borah Duals, hosted by Western State University Colorado, Saturday, Jan. 12. 

The Pack will have two bouts at the Tracy Borah Duals in Gunnison, Colorado, as they battle San Francisco State University at 10:30 a.m. and Simon Fraser University at 2:30 p.m. 

The Pack enter the RMAC dual season with a 3-1 overall record and a 1-0 mark at home. The bout is the first competition of 2019 for CSU-Pueblo, as the ThunderWolves closed last year with a 2-1 record at the Las Vegas Desert Duals, which included a win against then-No. 6 Minnesota State University, Mankato by the score of 31-11. The one home win was an upset of then-No. 2, now No. 1, University of Nebraska-Kearney by the score of 31-12. 

In the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association rankings, the ThunderWolves moved into a tie for 11th, while four student-athletes were ranked. D'Andre Brumfield (R-Jr., Dallas, Texas) is No. 4 at 133. He owns a 9-3 overall record with two falls. Gavin Nye (R-Fr., Gerber, Calif.) is also No. 4 at heavyweight and leads the team in wins and falls with a 13-5 record and six pins. Tarrence Williams (Sr., Portland, Ore.) is 3-0 to sit No. 9 at 184 and newcomer Haszell West (R-Jr., Portland, Ore.) is a perfect 8-0 to start the season and sits No. 10 at 197.

The ThunderWolves are the highest ranked member of the RMAC. 

Chadron State and San Francisco State don't have any wrestlers ranked, but Simon Fraser touts the No. 6 heavyweight in Ciaran Ball.
