DENVER (Jan. 5, 2019) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo men's basketball team lost 84-53 to Regis University Saturday in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference road contest.
One night removed from the ThunderWolves (4-9, 2-5 RMAC) surpassing the 100-point mark and shooting 56.8 percent, the Pack struggled against the Rangers (8-5, 5-2 RMAC) and shot 38.2 from the field. Regis shot 54.3 percent in the first half, but finished with 41.6 percent. RU attempted 22 more shots thanks to 27 offensive rebounds and winning the rebounding battle 59-27.
The Rangers led 38:32 of game time and built a lead as large as 31.
Dalen Jackson (R-Fr., G, Colorado Springs, Colo.) led the team with 12 points on 5-of-9 (55.6%) shooting from the field and also guided the Pack with four assists. He added two rebounds and a steal in 18 minutes.
Harvey Barr (R-Jr., C, Southampton, England, UK) played 17 minutes and totaled 10 points with three rebounds, two assists, a block and a steal.
Sophomore
Corey Seng (G/F, Highlands Ranch, Colo.) led the team with six rebounds and added eight points.
A Seng layup gave the Pack a 2-0 lead on their first possession, but an 8-0 run by Regis gave the home team an 8-2 lead three minutes into the contest. The Rangers kept pushing and five minutes in the lead was 11 at 15-4.
The ThunderWovles battled back used an 8-2 run to get within two at 27-25 with 3:49 remaining in the opening half. A Jackson 3-pointer with 4:57 left in the first half got the Pack within five at 25-20 and then a
BJ Hardy (R-So., G, Colorado Springs, Colo.) triple moments later cut the deficit to four at 27-23. Two
Gavin Liggett (R-Sr., G, Limon, Colo.) free throws got the road team within two.
Unfortunately, Regis would rattle off a 16-0 run to close the half to lead 43-25 and the Pack were in a hole heading to the locker room.
The deficit proved to be too much, as Regis countered any sort of comeback by the ThunderWovles in the second half to secure the victory.
