ThunderWolves hit the road to South Dakota Jan. 25-26

PUEBLO, Colo. (Jan. 24, 2019) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo men's basketball team heads to South Dakota to close a four-game Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference road trip Jan. 25-26 at South Dakota School of Mines & Technology and Black Hills State University. Friday's game is slated for a 7:30 p.m. start, while the Saturday contest is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT

• CSU-Pueblo is 5-12 with a 3-8 RMAC record. The Pack have lost three straight, which includes an 0-2 road trip at Metro State University of Denver (71-64) and Chadron State (71-62). The Pack limited turnovers and got after the boards last weekend, but shot 35.6 percent from the field and 51.5 percent from the free throw line in the two games. The ThunderWolves entered the weekend with a 46.7 field goal percentage to rank fourth in the RMAC, while they were hitting on 73.3 percent from the line.

• The ThunderWolves and Roadrunners were in a close battle until the home team rattled off a 14-0 run from the 15:58 mark to the 10:13 point of the second half to turn a two point deficit into a 12-point lead. The run was all MSU Denver needed to push the momentum to its side, en route to the seven-point victory. 
 
• Both teams had their shooting struggles in the first half, as the Pack held a 26.1 percentage from the field to the Roadrunners' 39.3 percent. CSU-Pueblo finished the game shooting a season-low 30.0 percent, while MSU Denver shot at a 44.1 percent clip. 
 
• The ThunderWolves took 21 more shots thanks to 22 offensive rebounds that led to 19 second chance points, while 14 Roadrunner miscues equaled 14 points off turnovers for the Pack. Overall, CSU-Pueblo held a 51-47 rebounding advantage. 
 
• Center Harvey Barr came off the bench and tied for the team lead in scoring with 13 points after shooting 50 percent from the field. He added four rebounds with three coming on the offensive end. Guard Donovan Oldham also closed the game with 13 points, which included going 3-for-4 from long range. He added four rebounds, two blocks and a steal. 

• Center Jason Anderson played in 15 minutes due to foul trouble, but was efficient with 11 points on 5-for-8 (62.5%) shooting. He tied with guard/forward Jordan Phillips for the team lead with seven rebounds. 

• The ThunderWolves shot 43.6 percent from the field and held the Eagles to 38.6 percent Saturday, but CSC hit 13 more free throws on just eight more attempts. CSU-Pueblo went 7-for-16 (43.8%) from the line, while the home team posted a 20-for-24 (83.3%) effort from the charity stripe. 
 
• The Pack won the turnover category 17-14, but CSC capitalized more on their opportunities with 17 points off miscues to the ThunderWolves' 12. The Eagles also got it done on the boards, winning that category 43-29, which included 13 offensive boards to CSU-Pueblo's five. 
 
• Anderson was the Pack's top scorer with 16 points on an impressive 7-for-10 (70%) shooting effort from the field. He was 2-for-2 from long range and added four rebounds with two blocks. Phillips finished with 10 points as the only other player in double figures scoring. He shot 50 percent from the field (4-for-8) and added three rebounds with three steals, a block and an assist. 

THE PACK

• The Pack are 2-6 on the road this season. 

• CSU-Pueblo leads the RMAC in total rebounds with 628, while its 36.9 rebounds per game is good for third.

• CSU-Pueblo owns 3.6 blocks per game to rank fourth in the league, while its 62 total blocks is also fourth. 

• The ThunderWolves have knocked down 9.0 3-pointers per game (153 total is fourth) this season to sit fifth in the conference. 

• The Pack are scoring 76.3 points per game, but allowing 80.8 points per contest this season. 

• Redshirt-junior Donovan Oldham leads the team and ranks 14th in the RMAC with 14.6 points per game. His 86.8 percent shooting from the charity stripe is good for second in the conference. He is shooting at a 46.5 percent clip from the field to sit 13th in the league.

• Redshirt-junior Jason Anderson is second on the team with 11.7 points per game. He leads the RMAC and ranks 20th nationally with a 60.8 percent effort from the field. His 5.7 rebounds per game is a team best.

• Redshirt-senior Gavin Liggett has dropped a team-best 36 3-pointers to rank tied for eighth in the RMAC. He's 11th in 3-point field goals per game with 2.1. He attempted 17 3-pointers at Westminster to have the second most attempts in a game by a member of the RMAC this season. He hit eight of those 17 attempts. 

• Junior Harvey Barr has 16 blocks this season to rank tied for 10th in the conference (0.9 rpg). His five blocks against Dixie State ranks tied for the most by an RMAC player this season.

• Sophomore Corey Seng recorded three straight double-doubles from Dec. 14-Jan. 4. In those three games he averaged 13 points, 10.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game, while shooting 48.3 percent from the field. He pulled down a career-high 11 rebounds against Colorado Christian, while his 17 points against Westminster was just shy of a career-high (18 points last season). 

• Head Coach Ralph Turner is in his eighth season as bench boss of the Pack and owns a 114-97 (.540) overall record. He coached his 200th game as a member of the ThunderWolves Nov. 24 against Lubbock Christian.

THE HARDROCKERS

• The Hardrockers are 7-12 overall with a 4-7 RMAC record to sit in a three-way tie for 11th. South Dakota Mines is 5-3 at home this season. Last weekend, the team went on the road and fell to Colorado School of Mines (93-71) and University of Colorado Colorado Springs (79-78).

• SDM&T is tied for first in the league in the fewest fouls per game category with 16.7 per contest. The team ranks fourth in assist per game 

• The Hardrockers have excelled on the defensive end this season and are third in the RMAC in scoring defense, as they allow 70.7 points per game. The team sits fifth in the league in field goal percentage defense (44.7%). 

• Alec Williams leads the team with 12.6 points per game and also has a team-best 3.9 assists per contest (T-5th in the league). His 1.35 assist/turnover ratio is seventh in the RMAC. Mitchell Sueker adds 12.4 points per contest, while Logan Elers owns 11.8 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. Troy Brady's 36 3-pointers is tied for eighth in the conference, while his 1.42 steals per game is a team-high and ranks 11th in the league.

THE YELLOW JACKETS

• The Yellow Jackets are 7-8 overall with a 6-5 RMAC record. After starting the conference season 6-0, BHSU has lost five straight, which includes going 0-2 on a road trip last weekend to UCCS (73-72) and Mines (78-67).

• Black Hills State is averaging 71.9 points per game and allowing 72.1 points per contest, which is fourth in the RMAC.

• The Yellow Jackets have committed the fewest fouls (250) in the league this season and are tied for third in fewest turnovers (204).

• BHSU is tied for first in the conference with a 75.5 percentage from the free throw line. The team ranks third with 9.3 3-pointers per contest. 

• Fraser Malcolm leads the team with 16.4 points per game (10th in the RMAC) and sits sixth in the league with a 51.7 field goal percentage. Dez Stoudamire adds 10.4 points per game and is fourth in the league in 3-pointers attempted with 113, while his 2.4 3-pointers per game ranks sixth.

• Tyler Oliver owns 11.2 points per game and leads the team with 6.0 rebounds per contest. Antonio Capley has come off the bench to lead the team with 17 blocks, while his 1.1 blocks per game is seventh in the RMAC.

LOOKING AHEAD

• The ThunderWolves are home for seven of their last nine games, starting with No. 23 Colorado School of Mines Feb. 1 and University of Colorado Colorado Springs Feb. 2. Both those contests are set for a 7:30 p.m. start.
