Pack S&D looks to continue momentum at CC Classic

PUEBLO, Colo. (January 18, 2019) -  Colorado State University-Pueblo Swimming & Diving will compete at the Colorado College Classic Jan. 18-20 at the Schlessman Natatorium in Colorado Springs.
 
The Pack has built up a lot of momentum following three consecutive duals win to start 2019. CSU-Pueblo beat Arizona Christian 140-105 Jan. Last week the Pack dominated Adams State University 199-88 and University of Nebraska Kearney 234-46.
 
The Pack's 188-point win over the Lopers is the largest margin of victory in program history. Overall, the Pack is 3-3 with a 2-1 record in RMAC duals.
 
Over the past two weeks, Natalie Rotondo (Fr., Aurora, Colo. ) achieved nine individual wins and led the Pack to victories over Arizona Christian, Adams State, and Nebraska Kearney. Including relays, Rotondo is an incredible 12-0 in 2019.
 
In the Pack's  tri-meet against the Grizzlies and Loperss, Rotondo won the 200 free (2:01.70). She also beat the field by five seconds in the 200 back (2:15.09).Rotondo won the 100 fly by over a second (1:01.50.) She also helped the Pack's 200 free relay to an eight second win with a time of 1:42.80.
 
April McDonough (Sr., Frisco, Texas) has also gotten on a roll with five individual wins over the last two weeks. McDonough seized first in the 1650 swim. Her time of 19:06.53 was 25 seconds faster than second place. In the Pack's tri-meet win,  McDonough also won the 500 free (5:34.47).  She won her heat in the 200 back (2:26.25).
 
Phoebe Pontious (Jr., Caledonia, Mich.) and Julia Whitfield (Fr., Wichita, Kan.) give the Pack a 1-2 punch in the freestyle sprints. Pontious placed first in the 50 free (25.44). Her time of 56.85 led her to first place in the 100 free. Pontious also notched second place in the 100 fly (1:02.64). Whitfield took second in the 100 free (57.82) against the Grizzlies and the Lopers.

Bristyn Croswhite (So., Phoenix, Ariz.)  and Alyssa Grunloh (Fr., Round Rock, Texas) each earned their first wins of the season. Croswhite won the 400 IM at the tri-meet (5:13.68. Grunloh placed first in the 200 fly (2:26.47). 
 
The Pack will need strong diving performances from Jade Irick (Sr., Idaho Falls, Idaho) and Madison Ortega (Fr., Pueblo West, Colo.). Irick won the one meter against the Grizzlies an Lopers (148.75). Ortega Placed first in the three-meter dive (148.55).
