FAYETTE, Iowa (Jan. 11, 2019) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo wrestling program moved up to a tie for No. 7 in Friday's NCAA Division II National Wrestling Coaches Association rankings, while four wrestlers are placed in the nation's top seven in the third regular season ranking of 2018-19.
The ThunderWolves were tied for No. 11 in last week's listing and moved into the top 10 without wrestling. The Pack are 4-1 in duals this season.
D'Andre Brumfield (R-Jr., Dallas, Texas) went from No. 4 to No. 2 at 133, as he owns a 10-3 overall record with two falls.
The Pack have wrestlers ranked at the final three weight classes, as
Gavin Nye (R-Fr., Gerber, Calif.) leads the team in wins and falls with a 13-5 record and six pins to remain at No. 4 at heavyweight.
Tarrence Williams (Sr., Portland, Ore.) moved up two spots to No. 7 at 184 and owns a 3-0 record. Newcomer
Haszell West (R-Jr., Portland, Ore.) is a perfect 9-0 to start the season and moved up three places and sits No. 7 at 197.
The 2018-19 NCAA Division II Wrestling Coaches Association Rankings Committee is made up of two coaches from each of the NCAA's six regions this season.
Poll Methodology: This is a tournament-power index ranking. The poll is not based on a team's dual strength. TPI Point Totals are broken down by the following individual rankings: 1st=20pts, 2nd=16pts, 3rd=13pts, 4th=12pts, 5th=10pts, 6th=9pts, 7th=7pts, 8th=6pts, 9th=4pts, 10th=3pts, 11th=2pts, 12th=1pt. The TPI point totals will be lower than the final actual NCAA Championship points because it does not include bonus points.
A group of ThunderWolves are participating at the Western Colorado Open today in Gunnison, then the Pack battle San Francisco State University (10:30 a.m.) and Simon Fraser University (2:30 a.m.) Saturday at the Tracy Borah Duals, also in Gunnison.
