Shepard joins CSU-Pueblo as Assistant Athletic Trainer

PUEBLO, Colo. (July 26, 2018) – Colorado State University-Pueblo Athletics has announced that Christina Shepard will join the Pack Athletics staff as an Assistant Athletic Trainer for the 2018-19 season.

"We are very excited and lucky to be adding  Christina to our Sports Medicine Staff," said CSU-Pueblo Director of Athletic Training Tessa Boccumini. "She will add a lot of depth and experience to our growing department. I think she will bring new concepts to help our student-athletes continue to succeed, as well share our overall vision as healthcare professionals at Colorado State University-Pueblo. I am looking forward to working with her."

Shepard comes to the Pack from Northern Kentucky University where she spent one season as an intern athletic trainer. During her time with the Norse, Shepard worked primarily with the cross country and track & field teams. She also taught an introduction to medical documenting class.

Prior to her time with the Norse, Shepard served as a Graduate Assistant at San Jose State University. She spent two years working with the Spartan water polo and swimming & diving teams.

In her two years with the Spartans, Shepard evaluated, recognized, and treated an avulsion fracture of the 1st MCP, a scaphoid fracture, a volar plate fracture, a 4th metacarpal fracture, a 4th metatarsal neck fracture, and a compression fracture. She also helped rehab athletes who had knee reconstruction surgeries.

Shepard earned her master's degree in Kinesiology at San Jose State. She graduated with her Bachelor of science at Michigan State University, majoring in Athletic training.

In her final semester at Michigan State, Shepard served as the head athletic training student assisting with the women's varsity and novice crew teams. She also worked with the Spartans softball and field hockey team.

Shepard will work with the Pack Volleyball, Wrestling, and Men's Lacrosse teams this season.
