Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

PUEBLO, Colo. (April 14, 2018) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo softball team got back in the win column posting 8-0 (5 innings) and 9-2 victories against New Mexico Highlands at Rawlings Softball Complex.

Four Pack players recorded three hits on the day and leadoff hitter Gabby Moreno (So., Scottsdale, Ariz.) drew three walks and got two hits in four official at bats.

In the first game Pack pitcher K'Lee Kent (Sr., Hobbs, NM) dominated in the circle and at the plate hitting a two-run homerun in the shutout win.

CSU-Pueblo jumped out in front in the first inning on back-to-back extra-base hits by Marissa Piatt (Fr., San Luis Obispo, Calif.) and Michaela Burpee (Jr., Union City, Calif.) for a 1-0 lead.

Kent and the Pack defense maintained the one run lead throughout the game. NMHU did not record a hit until the third inning.

The ThunderWolves blew the game open in the fourth inning scoring seven runs on five hits. Kent stepped up and hit a one-out bomb to start the scoring barrage.

The next three of four batters reached base setting up Piatt to hit a bases-clearing double and balloon the lead.

Following a walk to Burpee, Morgan Hatfield (Jr., Upland, Calif.) singled and fought off a 3-2 pitch for an RBI and Shelby Bennett (Jr., Norco, Calif.) got on the stat sheet with an RBI hit of her own.

The Cowgirls put runners on base with a couple of hits in the fifth inning but a lineout on the infield ended the threat and the game 8-0 in a run ruled five innings.

Kent finished with one strikeouts and allowed no runs and three hits to pick up the win.

In game two CSU-Pueblo kept the offense going and put up four runs in the second inning all with two outs. Vivian Ledesma (Jr., Colton, Calif.) started things off with a single and scored in the next at bat on a RBI-double by Alyssa Ubrun (Sr., Olympia, Wash.).

Sabrina Felix (So., Corona, Calif.) picked up a couple of RBIs hitting a double to center and scored on a passed ball to get the Pack on top 4-0 after two complete.

The Cowgirls cut into the lead in the fifth putting up two runs against Pack pitcher Hannah Anderson (So., Spokane, Wash.) who was coasting through four innings.

CSU-Pueblo matched the runs in their half on a RBI hit by Ledesma and sac flyout from Ubrun.

Another sac fly and two hits in the sixth for the Pack capped the scoring 9-4.

In the final inning NMHU got two runners on base but Anderson popped up the final batter on the infield to seal the win and Pack doubleheader sweep.

Anderson's line was seven innings, two runs, seven hits and five strikeouts.

CSU-Pueblo (11-28, 9-19 RMAC) and Highlands finish the series with two more games Sunday starting at 11 a.m. at Rawlings Softball Complex.
