GUNNISON, Colo. (Dec. 2, 2018) – Colorado State University-Pueblo senior
Tatianna Clanton (Colorado Springs, Colo.) produced three victories and two NCAA provisional marks to guide the ThunderWolves men and women to six total NCAA provisional marks at the Western Colorado Open Saturday.
The women's squad produced five NCAA provisional performances and seven event wins. The Pack totaled 160 points to finish second among the four teams represented.
Clanton returned to the lineup after redshirting all of last year and won the 60m dash with a personal best time of 7.58, which was converted to a provisional time of 7.64 to rank fourth nationally. She also grabbed an NCAA provisional mark in the long jump with a leap of 5.80 (second nationally on the first weekend of the indoor season). Junior
Lauren Fairchild (McKinney, Texas) also produced an NCAA mark in the long jump with a leap of 5.73 to sit fourth.
Clanton won the 200m dash with a time of 25.26.
Competing for the Pack for the first time, junior
Lynia Pavlenko (Portland, Ore.) recorded a mark of 11.96m in the triple jump for an NCAA provisional jump that ranks second in this early season.
Sophomore
Yasmine Hernandez (Johnstown, Colo.) raced to a time of 2:20.65 to win the 800m run. In the throws arena,
Jenna McKinley(Mosca, Colo.) won the shot put with her top throw reaching 12.90m. Senior
Nikol Podlacha (USAF Academy, Colo.) won the weight throw with her top toss of 14.80m. McKinley was second in the weight throw with a mark of 14.77m.
Also in second was the 4x400m relay, made up of
Hannah Kochen (So., Pueblo, Colo.), Fairchild, Hernandez and Clanton, with a time of 4:02.67. Sophomore
Nicole Bouma (Kalispell, Colo.) was second in the mile with a time of 5:35.46.
The men totaled two event wins and a provisional time. Senior
Shawn Horne (Camp Casey, South Korea) produced the NCAA time when he won the 400m with a time of 49.12 to rank fifth nationally.
Sophomore
Nathaniel Miller (Colorado Springs, Colo.) recorded a win in the shot put, as his top heave went 15.05m for a new personal best.
RJ Ramirez (So., Henderson, Colo.) posted a second place finish at the 60m dash with a time of 7.00.
Next up for the Pack squads is the Mines Alumni Classic & Multi in Golden, Colorado Dec. 6-7, followed by the Colorado Running Company UCCS Invite Dec. 8 in Colorado Springs, Colo.
