CANYON, Texas (Nov. 23, 2018) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo men's basketball team lost 105-71 to No. 8 West Texas A&M University Friday in a nonconfernece contest in Canyon, Texas.
WT (7-1) knocked down 58 percent of their shots, which included a 17-for-34 (50%) effort from long range. The ThunderWolves shot 49 percent from the field and went 9-for-21 (43%) from 3-point land. The Pack committed 24 turnovers, which resulted in 23 points for the home team. The Buffs also totaled 27 fast break points, while the ThunderWolves had four. CSU-Pueblo outrebounded WT by a 34-26 margin.
Redshirt-junior
Jason Anderson (C, Colorado Springs, Colo.) was the only player to score in double figures, as 10 different members of the Pack got in on the scoring. Anderson finished with with a game-high 18 points on 7-for-10 (70%) shooting from the field. He also added nine rebounds and an assist in 22 minutes of court time.
Off the bench,
Cade Carrol (Fr., F, Buena Vista, Colo.) totaled nine points on 4-of-8 (50%) shooting and six rebounds with two assists.
Dalen Jackson (R-Fr., G, Colorado Springs, Colo.) also came off the bench to total nine points, as he hit on 3-of-4 (75%) from beyond the arc in 12 minutes.
There were six occasions where the teams were tied and the lead changed five times, all of which occurred in the game's first 11 minutes.
The teams traded buckets early, as the first two-possession lead came with 13:12 remaining in the first and WT owning a 13-9 advantage. On the next Pack possession, Jackson knocked down a 3-pointer to cut it one, 13-12. The Buffs responded and rattled off a 6-0 run to lead 19-12 with 12:05 showing on the game clock. The ThunderWolves pushed back and recorded a 7-0 run to tie the game 19-19 with nine minutes remaining in the opening half. The Pack got back with four points of layups from Anderson and a 3-pointer from freshman guard

West Texas A&M called a timeout and came out with a purpose. The Buffs went on to build an 11-point advantage with a 13-2 run down to the five minute mark. A Carrol bucket slowed the nationally-ranked Buffs, but only for a moment, as the home team built an 18-point lead before heading into the halftime with the scoreboard reading 48-27. WT shot 58 percent from the field in the first frame and hit 9-of-14 (64.3%) from long range.
The second half was more of the Buffs, as they held a lead as large as 41 before the final buzzer sounded at 105-71.
The Pack will play Lubbock Christian University at 6:30 p.m. MT Saturday in Canyon.
