Box Score PUEBLO, Colo. (October 19, 2018) - On a night where the parent's and family supporters of CSU-Pueblo women's soccer, the ThunderWolves battled Westminster College to a 2-2 tie through two overtime periods Friday at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium.
The Pack received scores from Cara Siegel (So., Pueblo, Colo.) and Laikyn Koss (Sr., Riverside, Calif.).
Early on, CSU-Pueblo built a 2-0 lead midway through the first period.
Siegel earned her third goal of the year in the 7' after a beauty of a ball by Michelle Moure (Sr., Peyton, Colo.) was placed ahead of the defense allowing Siegel to shoot high and under the crossbar for the score.
Less than fifteen minutes had passed when the ThunderWolves earned a corner kick taken by Kylee Sakaguchi (Sr., Apple Valley, Calif.) who fed the ball inside the box high enough for Koss to get a header on the ball and past the goalkeeper. It is Koss' seventh goal of the year.
Despite the final shot count, CSU-Pueblo played a strong first half and was first to the ball in most cases and limited the potent Griffins lineup to zero goals in the first half.
At intermission, WC held a 10-3 shots lead and had two corners against one for the Pack.
Starting the second period the Griffins found their wings and soared. In the 49' the visitors got on the board when a deflected shot settled at the foot of a Griffins' player and she booted it past the Pack defense.
Westminster scored the equalizer ten minutes later off a free kick from 35-yards out and a header was put on the ball that was placed high and to the right inside the net.
In the period, the ThunderWolves recorded two early shots.
With less than five minutes left in regulation, the Griffins placed two shots at the net and was fended off by Pack goalkeeper Alexa Eastep (So., Henderson, Nev.).
In the first overtime, the Pack had two good looking shots at the net that sailed high on both instances.
After neither team scored and heading to overtime number two, both teams had seemingly ran out of gas as both teams did not record a shot.
For the game, Mackenzie Bean (Sr., Bothell, Wash.) led the team with three shots.
Eastep finished with seven saves and faced twenty-one shots by Westminster.
CSU-Pueblo (7-4-3, 4-4-2 RMAC) will finish the home portion of the schedule Sunday against Dixie State. Prior to the match, nine seniors wil be honored in a pregame ceremony.
