Carter's auto time in the mile guides Pack at Joe Davies Invitational

RESULTS

GOLDEN, Colo. (February 19, 2017) – Senior Dante Carter (Las Vegas, Nev.) qualified for the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships with an automatic time in the mile to lead the Colorado State University-Pueblo men's and women's track and field programs at the Joe Davies Invitational in Golden, Feb. 17-18.

Carter ran a winning time of 4:13.66, which was converted to 4:02.32 to slide under the Division II auto mark and rank fifth nationally. Sophomore Devundrick Walker (Aurora, Colo.) ran a PR in the event and finished fifth. His time of 4:19.23 was converted to 4:07.64 to rank 23rd in the nation.

In the 5000m run, Marcelo Laguera (So., Chihuahua, Mexico) posted an NCAA provisional time of 15:11.70 to finish fourth in the race. His time converted to 14:29.00, which ranks 20th nationally.

Freshman Logan Morley (Bigfork, Mont.) ran an 8:57.57 in the 3000m to rank fifth overall in the race and second among attached collegiate runners.

The women's distance medley relay squad clocked a converted time of 11:48.86 to post an NCAA Division II provisional time that ranks 15th nationally. The tandem of Miriam Roberts (Jr., Boulder, Colo.), Taliah Burney (Fr., Colorado Springs, Colo.), Sydni Riley (Sr., Florissant, Colo.) and Bailey Hughes (Sr., Bigfork, Mont.) won the race by more than six seconds against University of Colorado Colorado Springs, who also posted a provisional time.

Junior Tatianna Clanton (Colorado Springs, Colo.) leaped 5.82m in the long jump to record another Division II provisional mark, which was just shy of her top jump of 5.90 earlier this season that ranks 11th nationally. She was second in the event Friday to an athlete from University of Colorado that jumped 5.84m.

In the shot put, freshman Jenna McKinley (Mosca, Colo.) posted a throw of 12.43m to finish second, first among attached athletes. Also in field events, Catherine Tiona (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) recorded a mark of 3.40m in the pole vault to finish third overall, which was second among attached athletes.

The event was the final tune-up before the 2017 RMAC Indoor Track and Field Championships, set for Feb. 24-25 in Spearfish, S.D. Black Hills State University will serve as hosts of the championships at the Donald Young Center. More information on the event can be found HERE.
