ThunderWolves and Cougars finish tied 1-1

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (October 13, 2017) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo men's soccer team opened the weekend battling Colorado Christian University to a 1-1 tie Friday at Trailblazer Stadium in Lakewood, Colo.

The Pack got on the board in the 56th minute on a goal by Protus Babaya (Fr., Elk River, Minn.), his second score of the year and second in as many games on a shot to the back left of the net.

CSU-Pueblo opened the match putting Colorado Christian on their heels as they quickly fired three of eleven first half shots in the opening minutes of play. The Pack kept CCU on the defense for much of the half outshooting the home team 11-5 through the first forty-five minutes.

Pack sophomore Miles Sanchez (Bothell, Wash.) fired a game-high eight shots and three on goal to lead the way.

Michael Chism (R-So., Littleton, Colo.) matched a season-high five shot attempts in full time on the pitch.

In the second half the Pack continued its onslaught attack of the net, shooting twelve attempts to the Cougars' five in the period.

The ThunderWolves received five corner kicks in the second half and outshot CCU 12-5 in the frame.

CCU got on the board in the 80th minute off a free kick outside the box that was headed in to the top third of the net to even the score at one apiece.

Playing in their second straight overtime game, the Pack mustered three shots in the first extra time period led by Sanchez's two attempts.

In the final period CSU-Pueblo managed one shot and faced a strong CCU attack in the waning minutes. Pack goalkeeper Tyler Harvey (So., Las Vegas, Nev.) kept the Cougars at bay in the overtime periods, totaling nine saves on fifteen Cougar shots in the contest.

CSU-Pueblo (2-8-3, 2-4-3 RMAC) stays in Denver Sunday and takes on MSU Denver at noon at Regency Athletic Complex.
