Pack fall to top 10 opponent Central Oklahoma

RESULTS

EDMOND, Okla. (January 23, 2017) - The No. 13 Colorado State University-Pueblo wrestling team traveled to No. 9 University of Central Oklahoma Monday and fell in a nonconference dual, 22-12.

The Bronchos improved to a school record 15-0 with the win, while the Pack moved to 7-4 in dual competition.

The ThunderWolves jumped out to a 6-0 lead with wins at 125 and 133. Josiah Seaton (So., Bonner Springs, Kan.) got things started with a 5-2 decision. He recorded a takedown in the first and third periods to secure the win.

At 133, PT Garcia (R-So., Denver, Colo.) rode a first-period takedown to a 3-0 victory. Garcia was ranked sixth in the latest regional rankings, while his UCO opponent Blake Dauphin was placed seventh.

The ThunderWolves led 9-6 after junior Clay Archer (Broken Arrow, Okla.) won at 149. He recorded takedowns in the second and third periods to post the 5-1 victory.

CSU-Pueblo lost the next three bouts and trailed 16-9 before No. 6 JaVaughn Perkins (R-Fr., Omaha, Neb.) secured a 7-2 decision win against Gage Stallworth. Perkins earned two third-period takedowns and added a point for riding time to total five points in the final period.

Of the four dual losses, three have come at the hands of nationally ranked opponents.

CSU-Pueblo stays on the road to battle Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference foe Western State Colorado University Jan. 26 at 7 p.m. The Pack then return home for a bout against No. 2 University of Nebraska-Kearney Jan. 28 at 7 p.m.
