Skyhawks top ThunderWolves

DURANGO, Colo. (September 25, 2015) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo men's soccer team fell 3-1 against Fort Lewis College Friday. Matt Marchena (Sr., F, Littleton, Colo.) scored the lone goal for the Pack.

Fort Lewis got on the scoreboard first in the 35th minute, taking the 1-0 lead into halftime.

Through the first period, the Skyhawks held a 15-7 shots advantage, while having a 5-3 lead in corner kicks.

"Coming to Durango is always a tough game," Pack head coach Roy Stanley said. "Today I thought the energy level was very good, the competitiveness was strong."

The final period was much of the same with the Skyhawks firing off double-digit shot count.

Fort Lewis added two goals in the second half before Marchena would strike the net for his fourth goal of the season.

Marchena led the Pack offensively, managing eight shots and four on goal.

"Matt played a good game for us, we hit the cross bar a couple of times and had our opportunities," added Stanley.

Pack goalkeeper Sam Haseltine (Sr., St. Louis, Mo.) made ten saves on 26 shots by the Skyhawks.
