PUEBLO, Colo. (May 26, 2015) – Colorado State University-Pueblo junior Sydni Riley (Florissant, Colo.) was honored as a Capital One Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Academic All-District 6 First Team selection, Friday.
Selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), the teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Capital One has been the entitlement rights holder to CoSIDA's Academic All-America teams programs since 2011.
Riley owns a 3.99 GPA in psychology and was named Academic All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference First Team for cross country, indoor and outdoor track. A sprinter/middle distance runner, Riley was USTFCCCA All-Region Indoor with the Distance Medley Relay Team. Following the outdoor season she earned All-RMAC First Team with the 4x400 meter relay team and All-RMAC Second Team and all-region in the 400 meter dash. Riley was an NCAA Outdoor provisional qualifier in 400m (55.76) and with the 4x100 meter (46.90) and 4x400 meter (3:46.21) relay teams.
First-team Academic All-District ® honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
