WICHITA FALLS, Texas. (March 16, 2015) – Colorado State University-Pueblo women's golfer Leina Kim (Jr., Saipan, CNMI) is in a familiar position, in first place at the top of the leaderboard, after conclusion of play on day one of the Midwestern State Invitational. As a team, the ThunderWolves sit in 13th place following 18 holes at Wichita Falls Country Club in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Kim carded a 1-under 71 Monday, placing her in a first-place tie with Whitlee Woods of West Texas A&M University. It was Kim's sixth sub-par round of the season. The junior recorded six birdies to lead the field. On par-four holes, Kim posted a day-one best average score of 3.70. She finished 3-under on par-fours.
Julie Sanchez (Sr., Pueblo, Colo.) registered the second-best score of the day for the ThunderWolves. The senior shot an 8-over 80 to finish in a tie for 26th with six other golfers. Sanchez carded 12 pars which were the second most among the 84-person field.
Danielle DuPont (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) posted a score of 96 to finish in 76th place. Megan McCutcheon (Fr., Monument, Colo.) (99) and Natasha Navarro (So., San Antonio, Texas) (103) rounded out the scoring for the Pack in 79th and 81st, respectively.
The 36-hole tournament concludes tomorrow with day two action.
