FORT COLLINS, Colo. (November 7, 2015) – The Colorado State University-Pueblo men's basketball team completed its exhibition schedule Saturday with a contest at Colorado State University. The Pack fell in in their final competition before the official start of the 2015-16 season, 89-65.
The ThunderWolves after trailing by eight early, the Pack built a 31-23 lead with 4:46 left in the opening half. The Rams went on to post a 16-4 run to cap the opening frame and lead at the break 39-35.
The Pack wouldn't recover from the momentum shift of the first half and suffer the 24-point loss.
The bench was the bright spot in the exhibition, as the players past the starting five totaled 42 points. Sophomore guards Will Newman (Lawndale, Calif.) and Josh Smith (Colorado Springs, Colo.) guided the Pack with 11 points apiece. In 17 minutes, Newman recorded 11 points, six rebounds and four assists. Smith knocked down 3-of-6 from long rance, en route to 11 points, while he added two rebounds, two assists and a steal.
The ThuderWolves tipoff the season at the Javelina Men's Basketball Tip-‐Off Challenge in Kingsville, Texas Nov. 14-15. The Pack start with a 5 p.m. game Saturday against Texas A&M Internatonal, then battle Texas-Permain Basin Sunday at 3 p.m.
