CSU-Pueblo drops 1-0 decision to Metro State Denver

PUEBLO, Colo. (October 2, 2015) – Returning to the friendly confines of Art & Lorraine Gonzales Soccer Stadium, the Colorado State University-Pueblo men's soccer team played host to Metro State University Denver, falling 1-0 to the Roadrunners.

The visiting MSU Denver scored the only goal of the game in the 84th minute on a scramble in front of the net, knocking the ball beyond the reach of the goalkeeper.

Battling toe-to-toe with the Roadrunners in the first half, the ThunderWolves defense kept the opposition off the scoreboard through the first forty-five minutes, taking a scoreless game into halftime.

At halftime, MSU Denver held a 4-3 shots advantage while CSU-Pueblo led 3-0 on corner kick attempts.

The second half was much of the same as the teams exchanged possession, playing against the wind, limiting the amount of shots.

With the clock winding down, a hiccup in the Pack defense allowed for MSUD striker Josh Belfrage to connect a shot at the net.

For the contest, the ThunderWolves trailed 9-6 in shots, and 4-3 on corner kicks.

Pack goalkeeper Sam Haseltine (Sr., St. Louis, Mo.) made five saves at the net on nine Roadrunner shots.

CSU-Pueblo (5-4-0, 1-2-0 RMAC) next play Sunday at UC-Colorado Springs, kickoff is scheduled for a noon start time.
