SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Colorado State University-Pueblo men's soccer team earned a big conference road win 3-1 at Westminster College Friday.
CSU-Pueblo scored three times before halftime paving the way to victory.
CSU-Pueblo striker Matt Marchena (Sr., F, Littleton, Colo.) got the Pack on the board in the first three minutes of play, receiving the ball from Ben Jepson (R-Jr., D, Manchester, UK) and Sam Glawe (Sr., Mid., Allen, Tex.), scoring his team leading eighth goal of the season.
The Pack added goal number two in the eleventh minute with Glawe striking a one timer to the right side of the net, received by Marchena from outside the box.
The scoring barrage continued in the first half as Zach Davis (R-So., D, Tucson, Ariz.) footed the ball beyond the goalkeeper reach following a free kick taken by Glawe.
CSU-Pueblo's three goal lead at halftime is a top mark this season.
At the half, the Pack held a 17-3 shot advantage with ten shots on goal and a 5-0 corner kick lead.
The second half had the ThunderWolves controlling possession for much of the half, diminishing any threat from the Griffins.
Westminster would score its first goal in the 81st minute on a defensive miscue, breaking the shutout.
Pack goalkeeper Sam Haseltine (Sr., St. Louis, Mo.) earned the win at the net, making one save on five shots from Westminster.
Final numbers had CSU-Pueblo with a 22-5 shot advantage.
Glawe and Marchena led all players with four shots in the contest.
CSU-Pueblo (7-6-0, 3-4-0 RMAC) returns to action Sunday at Colorado Mesa University, kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Walker Field in Grand Junction, Colo.
