ThunderWolves suffer first loss of the season at West Texas A&M

CANYON, Texas (November 22, 2014). – The Colorado State University-Pueblo men's basketball team suffered its first loss of the season Saturday, as it fell 82-66, at West Texas A&M University at the First United Bank Center in Canyon, Texas.

The ThunderWolves (3-1, 0-0 RMAC), entered the game shooting 50.3 percent from the field, but didn't have the same success against the Buffaloes, as they shot at just a 33.3 percent clip. West Texas A&M (1-3, 0-0 Long Star) didn't have the same issues, as the home team shot 61.2 percent.

Junior Bronson Moton (F, Aurora, Colo.) scored 14 points and added seven rebounds to lead the team in both categories. Junior guard Rico Spikes (Merriville, Ind.) scored 10 points and was the only other Pack player to score in double-figures.

A senior guard Jed Knaflec (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) layup 2:30 into the game moved the Pack deficit to 9-5, but an 13-4 run by WT during the next five minutes allowed the home team to open a 22-9 lead.

Moton guided an 11-2 run by scoring eight points, as the Pack scored on four of six possessions to get within five at 25-20 with 9:14 remaining in the half.

The Buffs scored the next five points to get the lead back to 10 and the ThunderWolves were unable to get another run going in the second half, getting as close as eight before facing a 43-28 deficit at the half.

CSU-Pueblo only lost the second half by one point at 39-38, but the first half hole was too deep to climb out of and the ThunderWolves lost, 82-66.

The ThunderWolves conclude a Texas weekend road trip with Midwestern State University Sunday beginning at 2 p.m. (MST).
