CSU-Pueblo muscles past Adams State

ALAMOSA, Colo. (ASU Soccer Field) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo men's soccer team picked up its second straight road win Friday, defeating Adams State University 1-0 at the ASU Soccer Field.

Matt Marchena (Jr., Forward, Littleton, Colo.) who had a game-high six shots, five on frame, netted the games' lone goal in the 43rd minute for the 1-0 lead heading into the break. It is the eighth goal this season for Marchena.

Through the first half, CSU-Pueblo held a 6-3 shot advantage and each team earned two corner kicks each in the half.

The Pack used solid defensive play in the final period, holding the Grizzlies to just two shots on goal on eleven total shots.

At goalkeeper for the ThunderWolves, Sam Haseltine (R-Jr., St. Louis, MO) had another strong outing, making two saves on the day.

In the game, the Pack outshot the home team, 12-11, and held a 3-2 lead on corner kicks.

CSU-Pueblo (6-11, 5-8 RMAC) will finish its 2014 season Sunday when they travel to Colorado Springs and face the University of Colorado Colorado Springs Mountain Lions. Kickoff is scheduled for noon at the Mountain Lion Stadium.
