DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (GoThunderWolves.com - May 17, 2013) - CSU-Pueblo's Leina Kim (Saipan, CNMI) rose up the leaderboard slightly to 34th place in the 72-competitor NCAA Division II National Championships at the LPGA International in Daytona Beach.
Kim shot a 5-over-par 77, which, despite being four strokes off her school-record second-round total of 73, was still good enough to affect a rise up the standings as she still boasted one of the better scores in the field Friday. Her 5-over-par performance was the 19th-best third-round score in the 72-member field, allowing her to ultimately rise three spots up the standings to 34th.
She was largely unflappable Friday, hitting par on nine holes and birdie on one. She had six single-bogeys.
With just one round remaining in the tournament, Kim has designs on rising up the standings even further, something that is very possible with another round hovering near par. At 18-over-par for the previous three rounds, she is only seven shots out of the top 20.
Kim will finish her foray at the NCAA Division II National Championships when the fourth and final round concludes Saturday.
