PUEBLO, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Apr. 7, 2013) - After a day in which the pitching for the Pack was shaky in giving up seven runs to New Mexico Highlands, the starters rebounded in a big way giving up only one run in two Pack wins. Kelli Henry (So., Monument, Colo.) got the win in a 6-1 win in game one, while Justine Bosio (Sr., Santa Barbara, Colo.) pitched a shutout to get the 4-0 win in game two.
Henry was dominate from the start, giving up only five hits and one solo home run. She also struck out four batters in the complete-game win.
The Pack offense struck in the first inning after the lead-off batter, Alexa Snyder (So., Pueblo, Colo.), and Sidney Bailey (So., Pueblo, Colo.) in the two-hole reached on singles. McKenzie Joseph (Sr., Bakersfield, Calif.) was able to drive in Snyder with a hard hit shot to the pitcher that she was able to beat out for a single. Carlie Lucas (Sr., Granada Hills, Calif.) continued her strong weekend with a double to center field that cleared the bases.
Snyder would cap off her game with an RBI in the second inning to finish the day 3-for-4 with one RBI and one run.
Ariel Lopez (So., Fontana, Calif.) would add two doubles as she went 2-for-3, while driving in a run in the bottom of the fifth.
The second game also featured a dominating pitching performance from Bosio. Bosio allowed seven hits, but relied on key groundballs and three double plays to keep the Cowgirls from threatening.
After hitting a home run in the first game of the doubleheader, Bosio added another solo shot in the bottom of the second to bring her season total to 12. Bosio is currently second in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference in home runs, one behind Cowgirls first basemen Shelby Watts.
The Cowgirls committed two errors in the game leading to two runs by the Pack.
Brittany Styger (So., Kent, Wash.) added an RBI single to center field to cap the scoring for the ThunderWolves.
The Pack now sits in second place in the RMAC with a 20-7 conference record. The team now travels to Grand Junction, Colo. to take on Colorado Mesa and Colorado Christian in a away/neutral split. They begin play Friday against Colorado Christian at noon.
