Pack drops two on the road to Adams State

ALAMOSA, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Mar. 29, 2013) - The CSU-Pueblo softball team dropped a pair of games Friday afternoon to Adams State, losing 9-1 in game one and 6-1 in game two. The Grizzlies spanned 18 hits over the two games as their offense carried them to the two victories.

The Pack jumped out to early leads in both games by scoring leadoff hitter Alexa Snyder (So., Pueblo, Colo.) off of doubles from Sidney Bailey (So., Pueblo, Colo.) and Dora Hernandez (Fr., Benton City, Wash.).

As hot as the Pack offense has been this season, averaging more than seven runs per game through the first 24 games of the season, the Grizzlies were able to keep the ThunderWolves at bay with their defense.

In game game two big innings hurt the Pack, when the Grizzlies were able to bring across four runs and five runs in the first and third inning respectively. The Grizzlies scored on five singles and two doubles in the game as their timely hits came with runners in scoring position.

After taking an early 1-0 lead in game two, the Grizzlies scored a run in all but two innings as they pushed across six runs on eight hits. Adams State also benefited from three Pack errors in the game.

The two losses push the Pack to fourth in the conference standings. The team has chance for redemption when they play Adams State in a doubleheader Saturday, with a scheduled first pitch at 11 a.m.
