PUEBLO, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Feb. 23, 2013) - CSU-Pueblo got a walkoff single from Carlee Chain (Fr., Pueblo, Colo.) in the early game Saturday as it split a doubleheader with Chadron State.
Chain broke up a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the 7th inning as the ThunderWolves had one out with runners on first and third. Chain singled into shallow rightfield to send Sidney Bailey (So., Pueblo, Colo.) home from third base to send the Pack to a 4-3 win.
The walkoff came as CSU-Pueblo nearly saw the game slip away after controlling the opener most of the way. The Pack put up a 2 in the fifth inning, going up 3-1 on an RBI double by Bailey and an RBI single from Justine Bosio (Sr., Santa Barbara, Calif.). Chadron State tied it up with a two-run sixth, setting up Chain's heroics.
As encouraging as the first game was for the Pack, the second game was anything but. CSU-Pueblo was held to just one hit while Chadron State mercy-ruled the Pack in five innings 8-0.
CSU-Pueblo, now 5-4 overall this season and 2-2 in RMAC play, will host Metro State next weekend for a four-game series, starting Saturday at noon.
