Highlands' flurry of threes dooms ThunderWolves

PUEBLO, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Dec. 21, 2013) - New Mexico Highlands beat CSU-Pueblo at its own game Saturday, using eight second-half three-pointers to upend the ThunderWolves 82-71.

The Pack's go-to game of shooting the three went dry Saturday as CSU-Pueblo shot 30 percent from behind the arc, but put up more threes than two-point field goals - the Pack shot 36 three-pointers while only trying for 26 from two-point range, resulting in numerous stops that ultimately spelled defeat.

New Mexico Highlands, meanwhile, after going 0-for-10 from three-point range in the first half, suddenly caught fire in the second half.  Using four three-pointers from Stuart Sullivan, New Mexico Highlands went 8-for-15 from three (53 percent) in the second half, helping to key a game-changing 29-14 run over an eight-minute span that gave the Cowboys a 76-66 lead that it would ride to the end.

The loss drops the Pack to 6-4 overall and 3-2 in conference play.  CSU-Pueblo will take the holiday off before returning to the hardwood Jan. 4 to take on UC-Colorado Springs.
