DURANGO, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Oct. 12, 2012) - The CSU-Pueblo men's soccer team earned their second draw in as many days after taking the defending national champion's, Fort Lewis, the distance with a 0-0 score.
The Pack got the upper hand offensively as they were able to put three shots on frame, all of which were saved by goalkeeper Ryan Schaul.
Patrick Markis (Sr., Tempe, Ariz.) was equally as impressive as he turned away the two shots he faced. The Pack defense also put in an impressive game as they kept the Skyhawks from ever really threatening offensively by limiting their opportunities and blocking shots.
Seven players recorded shots in the game to lead a balanced Pack attack. Even though they were outshot 18-7, they were able to make the most of their opportunities by putting three shots on frame.
Chad Smith (Jr., Las Vegas, Nev.) had an opportunity in right out of the gates in the first overtime to net the game-winner, but the opportunity was turned away by Schaul.
The Pack will now travel to Grand Junction, Colo. for a matchup against Colorado Mesa. The ThunderWolves will look to upset a Mavericks team that sees itself sitting second in the RMAC standings. Kick off is scheduled for noon Sunday.
