Battle with Regis ends in a draw

Tightly contested battle ends in tie

DENVER, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Sept. 30, 2011) - The Pack had some favors to return to Regis Friday afternoon when the two teams met for the first time since the Rangers ousted the ThunderWolves out of the RMAC playoffs a year ago. Although they did not outright win, the Pack were able to tie Regis 0-0.

The shots were almost even with the Pack edging out the Rangers 15-14. They were able to gain a slight edge in the 78' when Kyle Emge was given his second yellow card of the game on an odd tackle that resulted in him being tossed.

Being a man down the Rangers played more conservatively in their defensive end and were conscious when they decided to go on the attack.

Rene Chacon (RFr., Pueblo, Colo.) provided the Pack with a couple of good looks and he influence the team the most on the offensive end.

"We had chances, they chances and I felt like it was a tightly contested game and a battle," coach Roy Stanley said. "That's what you get when you have two good teams who battle and are similar athletically."

The defense played solid again with Connor Saxe (So., Tacoma, Wash.) manning the outside and behind a six save performance from Jacob Blum (Sr., Peoria, Ariz.)

"Good mentality against a solid team," coach Stanley said.

The ThunderWolves will have one final game to close out the weekend when they travel to Adams State. The game is scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday.
