ThunderWolves drop to 0-3-1 headed into conference play
PUEBLO, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Sept. 11, 2011) - Looking for their first win of the season the CSU-Pueblo mens soccer team hosted Texas-Permian Basin in hopes of gaining momentum going into conference play next week. The Pack will have to wait another week to find their first win of the season losing 1-0 Sunday.
Even though the Pack outshot the Falcons 18-10 they were never able to find the back of the net.
Texas-Permian struck in the 58' on a goal by Logan Sharp. Sharp was able break passed the backline of the Thunderwolves and was found in stride on a through ball by Tyler Pate.Being down a goal, the Pack tried to amp up the offense but never were able to score. Jonny Sawyer (Fr., Aurora, Colo.) had a nice opportunity to score the equalizer but just missed full connection on the ball.
Ryan Hunter (Jr., Goodyear, Ariz.) led the ThunderWolves with five shots and Robert Kinsey (Sr., Denver, Colo.) finished with three shots.
The Pack will have the opportunity to get their first win of the season when they open up conference play Friday against Adams State. Although the team is 0-3-1 the conference season is a chance to start with a clean slate.
The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Rawlings Soccer Complex. The Pack will finish off the weekend Sunday against conference powerhouse Fort Lewis.
