GOLDEN, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Apr. 16, 2011) - For only the second time this season, CSU-Pueblo was swept in a doubleheader by an opponent, falling 4-1 and 5-1 to Colorado School of Mines Saturday.
Facing the conference-leading Orediggers, CSU-Pueblo couldn't get anything going against Mines pitchers, Libby Balogh and Kelly Unkrich, who combined to limit the Pack to a combined two runs on eight hits. Unkrich three-hit the Pack in the 5-1 win in the late game.
Only two ThunderWolves managed to get more than one hit on the day - leadoff hitter Carlie Lucas (Jr., Granada Hills, Calif.) went 3-for-6, scoring the Pack's lone run in the top of the first inning of the first game. McKenzie Joseph (So., Bakersfield, Calif.) went 2-for-6.
The Pack will attempt to hand Mines a sweep of its own Sunday when two teams once again square off in a doubleheader, with first pitch scheduled at 11 a.m.
