SILVER CITY, N.M. (GoThunderWolves.com - Mar. 27, 2011) - CSU-Pueblo split its Sunday doubleheader with Western New Mexico Sunday, winning 15-4 before losing 4-2 to the Mustangs.
CSU-Pueblo teed off on Western New Mexico in the first game, torching the Mustangs for 12 hits and using five errors to their advantage as they scored runs in every inning and never trailed.
The big inning was the sixth inning, when CSU-Pueblo put an eight on the Mustangs, setting the stage for mercy rule win.
The second game, by contrast, was a defensive battle, as the ThunderWolves could muster only five hits and Western New Mexico didn't commit a single error.
The Pack's big stick belonged to Samantha Rios (So., Fullerton, Calif.), who smashed two home runs in the second game and was responsible for a combined five RBI over the two games.
CSU-Pueblo will return home when it hosts New Mexico Highlands at the Rawlings Softball Complex for a four-game set.
