SILVER CITY, N.M. (GoThunderWolves.com - Mar. 26, 2011) - Again Saturday, for the fourth straight time and eighth time in its past nine RMAC doubleheaders, the Pack split a doubleheader with an RMAC opponent, grabbing a 2-1 victory from Western New Mexico before losing 13-5 in the late game.
The Pack relied on timely hitting and a strong pitching performance to turn just four hits into the two runs it needed to earn the 2-1 win in the early game.
Dannielle Oliva (So., Pueblo, Colo.) smashed a home run, as part of her 2-for-3 game while pitcher Shannon Traxinger (Jr., Longmont, Colo.) scattered eight hits in a complete game performance.
Western New Mexico did out-hit the ThunderWolves 8-to-4, but the killer was leaving nine runners stranded on base.
The late game, though, was all Mustangs as they blasted six home runs on ThunderWolf pitching in the 13-5 win.
Sunday, CSU-Pueblo will finish up its four-game series with Western New Mexico with another double dip beginning at 11 a.m.
