Pack splits pair with Adams State

PUEBLO, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Feb. 26, 2011) - CSU-Pueblo came back from an 8-5 loss to Adams State Saturday to mercy-rule the Grizzlies in the back end of the doubleheader, winning 9-1 and earning the split.

The Pack never led in a rough first game, as Adams State manufactured four runs in the third inning and never lost the lead.  The Pack was able to manage two home runs, coming from Carlie Lucas (Jr., Granada Hills, Calif.) and Justine Bosio (Jr., Santa Barbara, Calif.), but the solo shots weren't enough to erase the Grizzlies' cushion.

The second game, however, was all ThunderWolves as Shannon Traxinger (Jr., Longmont, Colo.) shut down the Grizzlies, only allowing one run on five hits over five innings pitched.

The Pack bats, meanwhile, were on fire, connecting on 14 hits and benefitting from three Adams State errors.  Bosio and Lucas again came through big time offensively, each notching three RBI apiece in the 9-1 win.

CSU-Pueblo will look to take two from the Grizzlies tomorrow, with action beginning at 11 a.m. at the Rawlings Softball Complex.
