Pack breaks 80 against Division I defense.
FORT COLLINS, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Nov. 1, 2011) - In the soft opening of the Ralph Turner era for CSU-Pueblo men's basketball, the Pack offense thrived against Division I Colorado State, falling 97-82 to the Rams.
CSU-Pueblo played neck-and-neck with Colorado State for the bulk of the game, bouncing back from an initial 11-0 deficit to play the Rams to a 86-82 score for the rest of the game. The most impressive stretch was directly after that 11-0 start as the Pack went on a 13-4 run to cut the lead to 15-13 after Andre Martin (Sr., San Diego, Calif.) hit back-to-back three-pointers. The ThunderWolves, however, did not attain a lead throughout the game.
Martin was the ThunderWolves' top scorer, netting 19 points. New addition Arden Dennis (Jr., Aurora, Colo.) sank 18 points, including three three-pointers while another newcomer, Bryce Velasquez (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.), logged eight assists and four steals from the point guard position.
CSU-Pueblo, after its encouraging debut performance, will have one more exhibition Saturday at Wyoming before starting its season for real Nov. 18 at the CSU-Pueblo Al Kaly Classic.
