PUEBLO, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Oct. 7, 2011) - In a huge downpour that moved into the Pueblo region Friday night the CSU-Pueblo men's soccer team used a total team effort to earn a tie against No. 22 Colorado School of Mines.
The Pack started slow allowing the Orediggers to control possession for the first 20 minutes. After settling down the Pack battled inch for inch with the nationally-ranked program only faltering once in the first half.
Tesho Akindele made a long run and rewarded himself scoring in 42' to put the Orediggers up 1-0 going into the half.
The rain continued to cause problems for both teams but Robert Kinsey (Sr., Denver, Colo.) came up huge scoring the equalizer in the 69'. Kinsey battled through a slew of defenders before finishing with his left foot to beat the keeper.
The teams continued to battle back and forth but no decision could be decided through two overtime periods.
"Super proud of our guys and the one thing I think that is happening is we're starting to believe," coach Roy Stanley said.
The Pack will continue the weekend playing at home when they host Colorado Christian Sunday with the game scheduled at 2:30.
