Pack loses in season finale', still earns playoff spot

ThunderWolves earn last playoff spot with Colorado Mesa loss

 

DENVER, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Oct. 30, 2011) - The CSU-Pueblo men's soccer team was defeated 4-0 Sunday in the regular season finale' against Metro State.

The Pack was only down 1-0 at halftime on an unassisted goal from Marc Herschberger. Herschberger was able to flick the ball over the charging keepers head to put the Roadrunners up early.

TJ Thiebaut was able to add to the margin scoring fives minutes into the second half off a pass from Oladele Johnson. Scott Grode would score his 16th goal of the season in the 65' off an assist from Brenden Hughes.

Grode would be credited with an assist on the final goal of the game after his header was blocked, paving the way for Scott Crawford. Crawford cleaned up the loose ball putting the Roadrunners up 4-0. 

Eight players for the Pack each had one shot with Jonny Sawyer (Fr., Aurora, Colo.) and Jonathan Hall (So., Anchorage, Alaska) leading the way with a shot on goal a piece. 

The Pack did receive some good news as they secured the final playoff spot in RMAC after Colorado Mesa was defeated 1-0 by Regis University. The team will have a couple of days of preparation before they travel to play the same Metro State team they faced today.

Kick off for the game is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Auraria Field in Denver.
